Alkali Refined Linseed Oil is another form of Linseed Oil also used as a traditional penetrating oil finish on interior timber joinery and furniture. Typically thicker and lighter than Raw Linseed Oil, it is an ideal option for lighter coloured woods.
Alkali Refined Linseed Oil
Raw linseed oil which has been treated for the removal of solid fats, foreign matter and mucilaginous material. Alkali Refined Linseed Oil is treated with alkali and fuller's earth to bleach and clarify the final product. An improvement in drying time is a result of Alkali Refining compared with Raw Linseed Oil.
PRECAUTIONS
Oily cloths or rags can self combust. (i.e.. burst into flames). Do not leave impregnated cloths in bundles. Before discarding, lay them flat to dry outside to avoid a potential fire hazard.
