Carnauba Wax

Carnauba Wax {kahr-naw'-buh}.

Carnauba wax is a hard, brittle WAX that melts at a high temperature. It is exuded from the leaves of the Carnauba palm, an indigenous plant of semiarid northeastern Brazil.

The best grade of wax, which is a light yellow, is obtained from unopened leaves. As the colour deepens toward green, the grade rating becomes lower. Carnauba wax is produced in greater volume and dollar value than any other commercial wax, with the exception of petroleum waxes. It is used in the manufacture of floor, furniture, automobile, and shoe polishes; carbon paper and phonograph records; and pharmaceutical compounds and cosmetics.

TYPICAL USES Ingredient in Mainland’s KiWax and Natural Bees Wax Polish ranges. Traditional ingredient for making wax filler sticks and friction sticks.

PRECAUTIONS Not considered a hazardous ingredient. COLOUR Light yellow
